Inexpensive Places and Things to Do in Dubai


Dubai is a city of superlatives, but one can still get a feel of it with less money.

Check this list:


  1. Ride the abra at the creek – AED 1, one way
  2. Ride the metro train from end to end, both red and green lines
  3. Visit the Dubai Musuem – AED 3
  4. Take a peak at Dubai’s culture at Heritage and Diving Village – No entrance fees
  5. View photographs of Dubai’s past at the Sheikh Saaed Al Maktoum House- AED 2
  6. Visit the Deira Gold Souk
  7. Check the Deira Fish Market early in the morning
  8. Bike/ jog/ skate/ swim/ get a tan at Jumeirah Kite Beach
  9. Sit by the beach at Jumeirah Beach Walk, watch watersports enthusiasts (parasailing, windsurfing…)
  10. Watch Dubai Mall’s nightly dancing fountain shows
  11. Visit Dubai Mall’s aquarium – viewing from outside is free
  12. Have a hot pot dinner at Deira Twin Tower’s fastfood balcony overlooking the creek at night
  13. A swim and barbeque at Al Mamzar beach park – AED 5 per person
  14. Take a night drive to The Palm, a right to Atlantis and back to the end of the left frond
  15. A jog/ stroll/ picnic at the parks (Zabeel, Creek, Mirdif) – mostly AED 5
  16. Ride the monorail at The Palm
  17. Ride the cable car at Creek Park
  18. Check the Global Village during the Dubai Shopping Festival
  19. Visit the beach near Burj Al Arab, watch the waves and take your photo with the iconic structure as background
  20. Get a ancient Arabic market vibe inside Madinat Jumeirah Mall then a take nice stroll outside.
  21. Take a stroll around Dubai Marina Mall’s promenade.

We could also add the following list although it entails spending a little more:


  1. Go up the 124th Floor of Burj Khalifa, the worlds tallest building
  2. Chill at Ski Dubai at Mall of the Emirates – the world’s largest indoor ski
  3. Explore The Lost Chambers at The Palm Atlantis
  4. Take a dhow cruise along the creek
  5. Conquer your fear at Wild Wadi’s Jumeirah Sceirah, Burj Surj and Tantrum Ali
  6. Slide down a shark-filled lagoon at Aquaventure’s The Leap of Faith
  7. Witness amazing dolphin acts at the Creek Park’s Dolphinarium
  8. Go on a desert safari or dune bashing, then relax before a belly dancing show
  9. Bring a kid to Kidzania at Dubai Mall
  10. Surround yourself with flowers in splendid landscaping at Dubai Miracle Garden

The latter list do mean a bit of spending, but sometimes one can spend on discounted rates using vouchers like The Entertainer discount books and online discount vouchers like Cobone and Groupon.
